This is the year you’re finally going to stop procrastinating and get serious about composting! (Or, if you’re already composting, this is the year you’ll raise your game to another level.)
It’s a win-win-win solution: You’ll grow bigger, healthier veggies and flowers; you’ll get those nasty chemical fertilizers out of your back yard; and, you’ll cut down the green waste being hauled off to the landfill.
All you need is a little push, and that will come from the folks at Green Point Nursery. With sponsorship from Sustainable Novato and the Marin Hazardous and Solid Waste JPA, they’re offering three Saturday morning classes in successful home composting. You’ll get hands-on help in sheet mulching, building and managing a hot pile and the joys of composting with worms. (It’s fun. Seriously!)
You’ll also have a chance to purchase a composting bin at a discounted price of $25 (these bins normally retail for as much as $100!) You can choose a worm composter (on the left) or a traditional stacking soil-saver garden waste bin (on the right.) Please indicate if you want to buy one when you register for the class (below), so we know how many to order.
Class size is limited, so you must register in advance no drop ins. Download the course flyer (PDF) Here
The first class is Saturday April 20, and it will be repeated on May 18 and June 15.
